Using Shibori Fabric

Has anyone used any of their shibori fabric in a project yet? I'm having some trouble coming up with ideas, and could use some inspiration.

Here's a link I've found to a beautiful piece done with some fantastic shibori fabric:

Why can't my shibori look like that??

  1. Actually over the weekend I found a piece of pink silk that I had shiboried last year for the Interpret This challenge. Here is the link for the fabric in process: http://photothreads.blogspot.com/2010/05/may-check-in-by-jdemilo.html

Here is the link for the finished quilt: http://photothreads.blogspot.com/2010/05/spring-jdemilo.html

  2. Hi Laura, Thanks - that is my quilt you linked to and I have to tell you that it's taken me quite awhile to come up with ways to use my shibori dyed fabric. This particular inspiration came as I was drawing leaves and coloring them with my granddaughter, as I was drawing in the leaf veins I could visualize it in my fabrics. I have a couple other samples of how I've used it on the quilt page of my website, www.lindamdesigns.com

  3. I made an art quilt of some shibori fabric a couple of years ago. You can see it at http://www.tiedyejudy.com/Art%20Quilts.htm. It's the first one on the left, entitled 'Freeform'. Also, Connie Rose does a bunch with shibori fabric: http://constancerosedesigns.blogspot.com/. Sometimes you just need to look at the fabric for awhile to get ideas!

  4. Judy, that link didn't work, so I typed in:
http://tiedyejudy.com/ and then went to Art Quilts, that seemed to work.
    Nice quilt too :)
