Okay, here's a few things that I tend to buy at Dharma. Feel free to tell us in your comments what you generally buy there.
Procion Dyes and Dye Supplies
Silk by the yardage I've looked around and the silk is the lowest price at Dharma
Clothing I am posting a picture of their infant onesie because that is what I have bought there but they have lots of other clothing items.
Scarves I have bought silk to make scarves which I thought would be cheaper than buying the scarves but have you tried to roll hem silk? Never again. Now I buy the scarves.
I could go on to fabric paints, and wax for batiks, and other types of resists, and on and on and on. I have just noticed you can buy dyable thread which I think I will get so I can dye the thread and fabric together. One place I always visit when I am on their webpage is their technique tab. They do give really good instructions on how to use their supplies.
Again, if you want a chance to win the $25 gift certificate, leave a comment on this post.
Thank you for the information, I went on their website and I am amazed by the selection they offer.
ReplyDeleteDharma is my main supplier as well. Next are Dick Blick and ProChem. Love the variety of t-shirts Dharma sells.
ReplyDeleteAlthough we have art supply companies here in Australia with lots of great items for sale,I don't think they have such a huge range of items under one roof as Dharma seem to have.
ReplyDeleteI haven't come across Dharma before. I'm in the UK and get most things from Artvango or Rainbow Silks. I like the look of the silk and rayon scarves. Would love to win a voucher.
ReplyDeleteDharma is my first choice, and I get all my dyeing supplies from them. A chance at a gift certificate is awesome! What a nice Tuesday surprise. Thanks.

ReplyDeleteI have only bought paints from there but would love to get some dyes..I have a few things I want to try this year and it looks like Dharma would be my best bet for getting the supplies. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Dharma, and as a university level teaching artist/designer, my classes would not be the same without all of the wonderful products we use from Dharma - dyes, auxiliaries, fabrics (especially the silk, paints and so many other amazing options for traveling and teaching). Dharma happily ships directly to the teaching facility or a hotel without any problems and that is worth soooo much!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite products are the Procion MX Dyes - great variety and now Jacquard Acid dyes for wool and silk fibre/yarns for spinners and weavers.

ReplyDeleteI've been shopping at Dharma for 40 years! Should you ever visit the Bay Area visit them in San Rafael, CA. The store doesn't catty everything in the catalogue, but they do have a very large yarn section.
ReplyDeleteI've checked out Dharma before and was surprised by the variety they carry, although to date I have not purchased due to the cost of shipping. It would be great to win this gift certificate! Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteI buy all my dyes from Dharma and love their MX dyes. Those
ReplyDeleteof you who want to stay on trend with colours should check
out their seasonal colours for Spring and Fall, inspired by
Pantone’s colour selection for those seasons. And if you’re
unsure of the weight of fabric to buy (silk, cotton PFD etc),
there’s a great selection of fabric sample packs with 4 inch
by 4 inch swatches for reasonable costs.
In my small fiber art support group there is one die-hard Dharma user and two die-hard ProChem users. I'd be thrilled to get a gift certificate from either one!!
ReplyDeleteHi, I love your blog, lots of techniques I hadn't heard about before are covered here. I have purchased from Dharma before and would love to win!
ReplyDeleteDharma has so many great supplies. I would love to win this!
ReplyDeleteI buy my procion dyes at Dharma, along with their mercerized cotton print cloth, and most recently, their 57" width cotton sateen. I've been happy with how the cotton sateen takes the color, and I like the flexibility the extra width gives for monoprinting with dye projects.

ReplyDeleteDharma has such a great selection of product. Generally I have used their Procion dyes, but I am also looking at purchasing scarves to use in a natural dye process. I am making dyeing and surface design my focus for 2016 so am looking to be spending a lot more time with my dye pots. I am just finishing up a few 'hangovers' from 2015 and then let the fun begin!
ReplyDeleteDharma is my go to for dyes, chemicals, resists, fabric, fabric paint, nearly all my raw material for textile art. I have never been displeased with the quality or the service.
