Friday's Surprises

Last surprise.  Today I am giving away 3 shades of gray.  How exciting is that?  LOL  Actually these are three 1/2 yard pieces of low-immersion dyed cotton fabric in 3 shades of gray.  I love grays and I love the mottling from low-immersion dyeing.  I am so sorry. These pictures were taken under artificial light and do not do justice to the fabric.

I dyed these preparing for a workshop with Nancy Crow.  Have you ever taken a workshop with her?  She expects participants to bring a ton of fabric.  So I dyed and dyed and dyed some more.  I took a huge tote of fabric with me.  I used a lot of my fabric but still have whole value sets left.

Along with the fabric the surprise includes a book.  The book for the surprise is Hand-Dyed Fabric Made Easy by Adriene Buffington.  It is not a new book or a huge comprehensive dying manual but I love its "Black Magic Family."  It has 10 gradients from very light to quite dark made by adding various concentration of a dye color and black dye. That is what I used for my Nancy Crow dyeing marathon and what I always use when making coordinated fabric sets.

As always, if  you would like to give a new home to the fabric and book just leave a comment.  The random drawing is on Saturday and will be posted in the afternoon.  Good luck!
