Bubble printing on fabric - How to

So yesterday I showed you how-not-to print with bubbles on fabric. Knowing that you get nice crisp prints of bubbles on paper, I realized I had to change my dye to disperse dyes (for ironing on polyester afterwards!).

I started with the same 1/4 soap 3/4 water solution but it turned out too messy (see the red one on the left).

Later on, I just mixed 10 ml. of liquid soap with 1 ml. of disperse dyes, in my bubble cup with cover, and that worked really well, see right and a few of my other results:

The more dye I used, the better they got, look at theses final ones:

Please take care to keep your cup a few cm's above the paper. The foambubbles flow from the hole in the cup and just drop on your paper . You stop blowing as soon as you think there are enough bubbles and take the cup away from the paper.

Let the papers dry a couple of hours. Tomorrow, I'll show you the results on fabrics....

  7. Hmmm, some No-Flo primer (or other anti-spread substance) on the fabric then dye. I'm thinking steamset Jacquard red label. I already have a Dharma order in transit, darn.
I do still have some more hankies on hand to play with.
    Hmmmm
